合川峽硯又稱墨玉寶硯，釣魚城峽硯或三峽石硯臺(tái)等。采用重慶合川釣魚城下嘉陵江瀝濞峽段的天然峽石精雕細(xì)琢而成，是一種古老的民間手工藝品。
易宗成，不僅是重慶市工藝美術(shù)協(xié)會(huì)授予的重慶市工藝美術(shù)大師，而且是重慶合川區(qū)級非物質(zhì)文化遺產(chǎn)合川峽硯制作技藝代表性傳承人，同時(shí)還于2017年2月榮獲重慶合川區(qū)首批“合川工匠”殊榮。
合川峽硯雕刻技藝始于宋代，盛于明清，歷史悠久，要完成一件合川峽硯，需經(jīng)原石開采（洞采）、選料、構(gòu)思、繪圖、初步造型、精細(xì)雕刻、打磨成品、打蠟拋光等十余道工序，采用打、鑿、刻、挖、鉆等多種技法，根據(jù)花紋復(fù)雜程度，花費(fèi)時(shí)間在幾天到幾月甚至一年不等，每一道工序、每一種雕刻技法，都是用時(shí)間和汗水換來的。
目前合川峽硯雕刻工藝后繼無人，整個(gè)合川本地從事硯臺(tái)制作的藝人只有十位左右，雕刻技術(shù)面臨失傳。大師作品更是數(shù)量有限，每件作品均為獨(dú)品。

Hechuan gorge inkstone carving began in the Song Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, has a long history, to complete a Hechuan gorge Yan, the stone mining (hole mining), material selection, design, drawing, preliminary shape, fine engraving, polishing, waxing and polishing finished ten working procedures, the use of a chisel engraved, digging, drilling a variety of techniques, according to the pattern of complexity, to spend time in a few days to a few months or even a year, every process, every kind of carving techniques, was purchased with time and sweat.
At present, the Hechuan gorge inkstone carving leave no successor, the Hechuan local artists engaged in Yantai production of only ten or so, engraving technology lost face. The master works are limited in quantity, and each work is the only one.
